Samsung · Super Fast Charging

Samsung 25W: the wattage most Galaxy phones actually stop at.

The base Galaxy S25, S24, S23, Z Flip and Z Fold all cap their input at 25W. Samsung's 25W brick hits that ceiling exactly — and the PPS profile inside it is the reason a bigger, more expensive charger often charges them slower.

What the 25W adapter puts out

Samsung's 25W USB-C adapter (sold as EP-TA800 and, in the slimmer revision, EP-T2510) advertises its headline figure as 9V at 2.77A — 24.9W, rounded up. Underneath that it carries the ordinary USB-C Power Delivery fixed rails plus a programmable range:

ModeProfileDelivered
PD fixed5V / 3A15W
PD fixed9V / 2.77A25W
PPS3.3–5.9V programmableup to ~17W
PPS3.3–11V programmableup to 25W

That last row is the whole product. Super Fast Charging is not a Samsung protocol — it is standard USB-C PPS, a Power Delivery extension that lets the phone dial the adapter's output voltage in 20mV steps. The phone asks for a voltage barely above its own battery pack voltage, which means the step-down conversion happens inside the wall brick instead of inside the phone. Less conversion in the handset means less waste heat next to the cells, which is why Samsung will run a higher current in PPS mode than it will on a fixed 9V rail.

On a base S25 there is no benefit to a 45W brick — the phone will negotiate the same 25W PPS request either way. Buying up only pays if an Ultra, a Plus, or a Tab S is in the household. The head-to-head is laid out on Samsung 45W vs 25W.

Cable rule: 25W never needs an e-marked 5A cable — the current stays under 3A, so any certified USB-C to USB-C cable carries it. That only changes at 45W, where the phone pulls above 3A and an e-marked cable becomes mandatory.

Why a 65W charger can be slower than this one

A generic 65W PD charger with no PPS advertising object can only offer fixed rails. A Galaxy that finds no usable PPS profile falls back to 5V/9V PD and settles around 15W. That is the single most common cause of "my expensive new charger charges slower than the old one." The fix is not more watts — it is checking the spec sheet for the letters PPS. PD vs PPS covers the difference in one page, and the S25 charger page lists what the current flagship asks for.

FAQ

Is the Samsung 25W adapter enough for a Galaxy S25 Ultra?

It charges it safely and quickly, but the S25 Ultra accepts 45W. On 25W you lose roughly the first-half speed advantage; the last 30% charges at the same rate either way.

Does the 25W adapter work with iPhones and iPads?

Yes. It is a standards-compliant USB-C PD 3.0 charger, so an iPhone will fast-charge on it at up to 20-25W and an iPad will take its full 20W-plus request.

Can I use a 25W adapter on a Galaxy Watch or Buds?

Yes, but there is no speed benefit. Those accessories negotiate 5V at low current and simply ignore the extra capacity.

How do I confirm my phone is Super Fast Charging?

The lock screen text reads 'Super Fast Charging' rather than 'Fast Charging' when a valid PPS profile is negotiated. 'Fast Charging' alone means the adapter fell back to fixed-rail PD.
