Amazon Basics 65W: cheap laptop watts, thin paperwork.
65W is the wattage worth standardising on: it runs a MacBook Air at full speed and everything smaller. The house-brand version gets there for the least money, provided you read one number on the listing — the single-port maximum, not the headline total.
Total wattage is not per-port wattage
A multi-port 65W charger almost never gives 65W to one port while a second is occupied: plug a phone into port two and the laptop port renegotiates down, often to 45W-class — the mechanism is in our multi-port explainer. At this tier the split table is frequently absent; then, treat port two as a phone port.

65W means a 20V/3.25A contract: a charger with no 20V rail is not a laptop charger whatever its headline — the definition the 65W class page uses.
What it's genuinely good at
Standardising a household. One 65W brick covers a MacBook Air, an iPad Pro, a Steam Deck, a Switch dock and every phone.
Replacing a lost laptop charger. If the original died on a work trip, this is the fastest legitimate route back to working: replacing a lost charger.
Dual voltage, like everything USB-C. 100–240V input means it travels with a plug adapter — never a converter.
Where it falls short
Published specification is the weakest part of the product. Spec-first competitors publish every rail and split; this tier publishes a total and a port count. If your decision depends on a specific behaviour, you are buying blind.
PPS is unconfirmed. A Galaxy S25 Ultra or Tab Ultra needs a published PPS range — typically 3.3–11V — for 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0. Silence means no; see PPS explained.
Nothing above 65W. A 16″ MacBook Pro wants 140W PD 3.1, a 14″ Pro under load 67–96W. 65W keeps them alive, not fast.
Thermal behaviour under sustained load is undocumented. What we know of long-run behaviour comes from teardowns and reliability reporting, and there is less of both here — prefer a documented brand for all-day 65W.

Full speed on one port: MacBook Air M-series (30W nominal, 35W+ fast-charge), Dell XPS 13-class ultrabooks, most ThinkPad USB-C models, Steam Deck at 45W, Switch dock at 39W, iPad Pro at 30W, any iPhone. Charges, not at full speed: MacBook Pro 14″ under load, gaming laptops with 100W+ bricks. Not served: MacBook Pro 16″ fast charge, Galaxy Ultra 45W without PPS.

Will a 65W charger run a MacBook Pro?
It runs and charges a 14-inch MacBook Pro, but below the 67W Apple ships with it, so under load it may only hold the battery steady.
Why does my laptop charge slower when I plug in my phone?
Because 65W is a shared budget: a second device makes the charger renegotiate and the laptop port drops a tier.
Does the Amazon Basics 65W support Samsung PPS?
Only if the listing prints a PPS voltage range; read an omission as a no. Without it a Galaxy Ultra charges at standard PD speed.
Do I need a special cable for 65W?
Yes, a 5A-capable cable. Many bundled cables are 3A, capping you near 60W at 20V. Above 100W an EPR cable is mandatory.
