Baseus prices GaN chargers below almost everyone and publishes unusually detailed port tables to justify it. The catch is catalogue churn — overlapping generation names and near-identical SKUs mean the model number, not the brand, is what you are actually buying.
What Baseus does well
Founded in Shenzhen in 2011, Baseus sells across the whole accessory stack: wall chargers, car chargers, power banks, cables and hubs. In chargers its strategy is transparent — undercut the value tier on price, then win the spec comparison by printing everything. Baseus listings routinely publish each fixed rail, the PPS range, and the exact wattage split for every port combination, which is more than several brands twice the price manage. Several of the desktop units add a small display showing live output wattage, which is genuinely useful for diagnosing whether a laptop is actually pulling the rail you expect.
What Baseus does badly is naming. GaN2, GaN3, GaN5 and GaN6 are internal marketing generations, not industry standards, and they do not map onto any USB-IF specification. Two chargers with the same wattage and different generation labels can have different port counts and different splits, so the generation tells you nothing on its own.

Who should skip Baseus
Skip it if you will not read a spec block. The brand's value depends entirely on picking the right SKU out of a crowded catalogue; if you want one obvious choice per wattage, Anker and UGREEN curate harder — see Anker vs UGREEN. What do Baseus GaN2, GaN5 and GaN6 mean?
They are Baseus's own generation labels for its charger platforms, not an industry standard and not a USB-IF specification. Compare the printed rails, PPS range and per-port split instead — a newer generation number does not guarantee better output.
Are Baseus chargers safe?
The US-market units carry lab certification marks and an FCC ID on the housing, and the brand has been shipping since 2011. The risk with a high-SKU-count budget brand is buying a counterfeit or a grey-market variant, not the genuine product itself.
Do Baseus chargers support PPS for Samsung?
Most of the 45W and 65W models do, but not all of them, and this is exactly where the catalogue churn bites. Look for an explicit PPS voltage range in the specification block before buying for a Galaxy S Ultra.
Is a Baseus 100W charger enough for a MacBook Pro?
For a 14-inch model, yes — it charges at full speed on 100W. A 16-inch model wants a 140W PD 3.1 supply with a 28V rail to fast-charge; 100W still works, just more slowly.
