Confirm the 28V profile in the listing before buying. "140W" appears on chargers that reach it only as a total across ports, capping any single port at 100W — a different product. A real EPR unit prints a 28V line in its output block.
What it is genuinely good at
Fast-charging a 16″ MacBook Pro. That machine asks 140W over the 28V rail, and no allocation cleverness on a PD 3.0 charger substitutes for voltage. A binary capability, not a matter of degree.
Keeping a big laptop high while other devices charge. A 96W laptop contract plus a phone and earbuds fits inside 140W without the laptop dropping tiers — the arithmetic that fails at 100W.
Where it falls short, and who should skip it
Size and cord. The least travel-friendly shape in the Nexode range: a detachable AC cord means two objects, no folding prongs and a real footprint on a power strip. A 65W unit goes in the bag; this stays on the desk.

Skip it if nothing you own asks for 28V. A 14″ MacBook Pro, any MacBook Air and essentially every ultrabook are covered by 100W adapters, cheaper and smaller. Paying for a rail you never negotiate is the common overbuy here.

What makes 140W possible when USB-C used to stop at 100W?
PD 3.1 Extended Power Range, which adds 28V, 36V and 48V rails above the original 20V maximum. 140W is 28V at 5A.
Do I really need a new cable for 140W?
Yes. No e-marker chip caps a cable at 3A, and a 100W e-marked cable is certified only to 20V. Without a 240W EPR cable the charger falls back to a 100W-class contract.
Is the Nexode 140W worth it over the 100W model?
Only if you own a device that requests 28V — in practice a 16-inch MacBook Pro. For a 14-inch machine or any ultrabook the 100W model is smaller, cheaper and gives up nothing.
