Quick Charge was Qualcomm's proprietary answer to slow USB-A charging. Then QC 4 and 4+ were built on top of USB Power Delivery and PPS. Today a good PD charger covers modern Quick Charge devices, which makes this an easier decision than the branding suggests.

Where each one still matters
Quick Charge matters for one legacy case. A phone that supports QC 3.0 but not PD — typically a Snapdragon Android handset from the 2016–2019 era — charges fastest on a QC-branded USB-A port at around 18W. On a PD-only USB-C charger it falls back to a plain 5V contract and charges slowly. That is a real, if shrinking, group of devices.
PD matters for everything else. It is the only path above 18W, the only one iPhones and iPads use, and the only one that reaches laptop wattages. It is also the substrate QC now runs on. Class reading: 18W adapters, USB-C power adapters, and PD vs PPS.
Verdict: buy PD; treat Quick Charge as a bonus on the A port
For any device bought in the last five years, Power Delivery is the correct purchase: it carries more watts, works across every brand, and QC 4 and later run on top of it anyway. Judged on delivered watts the ceiling difference is decisive — 18W against 240W. Judged on protocol correctness, PD is the standard the industry converged on. The exception is specific and worth stating plainly: if your main phone is an older Snapdragon device that lists QC 3.0 and not USB PD, a QC-capable USB-A port will charge it meaningfully faster than a PD-only charger, so buy a unit that offers both rather than a pure USB-C brick. Will a USB PD charger work with a Quick Charge phone?
Yes for QC 4 and 4+ devices, which are PD-compliant by specification. A QC 3.0-only phone will still charge on a PD charger, but at a basic 5V rate rather than its fast-charge speed.
Is Quick Charge faster than USB PD?
No. QC 3.0 tops out around 18W; USB PD reaches 240W. QC 4+ is not faster than PD because it is built on PD.
Do I need a Quick Charge charger for a Samsung Galaxy?
